Union Special - 43200G 'Chainstitch Hemming service'
A new pair of dry denim is mostly sold in only two or three length variations. If you're looking to shorten the length of your jeans and you want to maintain the original chainstitched hem, you can send them over to us!
We're proud to have a Union Special 43200G chainstitch machine, which creates the original ‘roping effect’ on the hem. The roping effect is created by 3/8-inch folding attachment and the feeder. The fabric enters into the machine at a different speed to the folding of the fabric. Due to the way the fabric and thread communicate there is a little twist in the folding process that creates the most authentic hemming look.
Every pair of jeans we hem for you will be to the exact length you specify. We will be sure to keep everything on brand and for the original thread colour to match as much as possible. If you prefer a custom thread colour please add the specifications to your order form or email. Everything is possible, even indigo dyed yarn. These yarns will mature nicely and fade over time!

*When arrived, we will hem the jeans and ship them within 48 hours. This is excluding the shipping time.
We work through mail-order-service only. To get started with the repairservice, please fill in the contact form. If you want me to take care of the repairs, please fill in the contact form, send us an e-mail or a message through Facebook or Instagram. After we've been in contact, you can send your jeans including the 'Repairform' to us. We’ll keep you updated on the process and Edwin (our founder) will send you an invoice when the repairs are finished.
After they’re finished, I’ll send them back at own costs or through our shipping deal, and after the payment is transferred. I will never ask you to pay up front or keep a fee as a reservation!
(It’s is not necessary to wash your jeans prior to sending them over for a repair, but if the jeans are to filthy or to greasy to hold it, I will kindly return them at own costs).
We are also proud to offer you a shipping deal, This is for Domestic (NL), European and Worldwide shipping. This deal includes a shipping label to send over a parcel to Dutch Denim Repair and for its return. We use PostNL for our domestic and standard foreign postal service, all send with Track & Trace-service. Other services are also available, such as DPD and UPS.

We offer a 'Pick up and Drop off-service' for customers living/working in or around Rotterdam. When in contact, we can make an appointment to collect your denim and when it's finished I'll bring it back to you, in person. This service is available from €4,95 and it is free when the total amount is above > €100,- .
When choosing the chainstitch hemming- or the tapering service please note the following:
- Please be clear when filling the form, a message will be send if it needs more specifications
- It is impossible to undo the process of tapering or a cut off hem
- No refund possible after the tapering- or chainstitch hemming service is done
- It is always possible to decline a pair for alterations or for the chainstitch hemming service
- Stretch denim will not be accepted for any alterations or hemming service
